The Fifty Caliber Shooters Assn., Inc. (FCSA™) was established in 1985 by a small group of dedicated individuals who set for themselves the mission to advance the sporting use of the .50 BMG Cartridge.  FCSA is a non-profit organization registered in Tennessee and Utah.

FCSA provides a quarterly magazine, VERY HIGH POWER™, a Suppliers Directory, professional consulting information on fifty caliber rifles, and reloading information for its membership.  In addition FCSA maintains an active, comprehensive web page and forum at www.fcsa.org offering accessibility and insight into the organization for internet visitors and members alike.

Our primary sport at this time is 1000 yard shooting competition with a mission to advance the art of extreme long-range accuracy with the fifty caliber rifle.  FCSA sanctions approximately fifteen to twenty organized 1000 yard rifle matches per year in various locations in the continental United States.

FCSA has a sister organization, the Fifty Caliber Institute (FCI), whose role is education, media representation and political advocacy on behalf of .50 caliber owners and manufacturers.

FCSA is a supporting organization of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and was recognized as the NRA club of the year in 2009.  We encourage all members to join, however NRA membership is not mandatory nor is it a requirement for FCSA membership or to compete in any FCSA sanctioned match.

FCSA has over 2000 members.  Membership in FCSA extends to twelve countries including the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Spain, New Zealand, Norway, South Africa, Australia, Turkey, France and Canada.

The majority of our members are 50 and older, with several competitive shooters in their seventies.  Many competitors are women, and have distinguished themselves as excellent marksman having set world records on several occasions.  Well over fifty percent of our members have a college degree with 80% having had at least some college. 61% are salaried professionals or business owners, 80% have annual incomes exceeding $50,000, 58% have incomes over $75,000, and 9% are military or law enforcement personnel.

FCSA provides a service to military and law enforcement with research and instruction as well as an active liaison in both communities.  Major John Plaster, USAR (ret.) has written in his book, ULTIMATE SNIPER, “…most of today’s .50 caliber military sniper rifles were developed without one single dollar of government money.  To give credit where credit is due, it has been the private sector perfectionist of the Fifty Caliber Shooters Assn. who has led the way in refining .50 caliber cartridges, rifles, and 1000 yard plus shooting know how.”

Fifty Caliber rifles are not “the weapon of choice of the criminal.”  The fifty caliber rifle is too large, too heavy, too loud, and too expensive to be employed in normal criminal behavior.  Also the accessibility to ammo is difficult because of its high expense and the almost non-availability through normal retail sales outlets.

The decision to purchase a fifty caliber should be given careful consideration.  Fifty caliber rifles are expensive and range in price from $2500 to more than $10,000.  The sport of competitive shooting also carries with it a commitment of significant financial obligation with the purchase of all the ancillary support equipment that is needed.

FCSA, a corporation governed by an elected President and Board of Directors, is operated in accordance to FCSA’s published By Laws.  All sanctioned FCSA shooting competitions are conducted according to rules established by the shooting members, and are published in FCSA’s Rules & By Laws booklet.  The guiding philosophy of FCSA is for the members to enjoy each other’s company as well as the sport, maintain free exchange of technical information, and at the same time promote the sporting aspects of Fifty Caliber BMG shooting.
